2019 news 1 templateNo one likes to receive a letter from the IRS about a tax problem—or worse still, an invitation to a tax audit. The good news is Pensions and Benefits USA has reliable resources to help ministers and churches avoid problems and complete taxes like a pro.

Ministers’ Taxes Made Easy from the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) offers step-by-step instructions to guide clergy through the returns and forms needed for tax filing. For church treasurers, there’s the 2019 edition of the ECFA’s Church Reporting Made Easy. This manual clearly explains the new IRS regulations affecting churches, and even includes samples of forms that need to be filed with the government.

There’s also our compensation and tax memos series. These easy to use resources can help ministers to minimize taxes with simple strategies like properly structuring compensation and creating accountable expense reimbursement plans.

Don’t forget the wealth of information, including forms, instructions and the ability to receive assistance and file taxes online at irs.gov. By the way, the normal filing deadline for 2018 taxes is Monday, April 15.
