About Us

The Pensions and Benefits USA (P&B) team is committed to serving Nazarene districts, local churches, ministers (active and retired), and lay persons in the United States (U.S.) in providing retirement and insurance benefits, as well as tax and compensation resources. P&B administers the only denominationally approved retirement plans for Nazarene churches and institution employees in the U.S. which provides significant tax advantages.

Mission

P&B serves the Church of the Nazarene by providing and educating ministers about uniquely designed benefit plans and related services, assisting our constituents through significant life transitions, and conveying the importance of support for the P&B Fund.

Participants

People covered under the benefit plans that P&B administers are called participants. Participants would be those who are currently serving or have served the Church of the Nazarene in a local, general church, or district church setting. All U.S. educators would also be considered participants. Specifically, they would include all U.S. licensed/commissioned ministers, evangelists, district superintendents, missionaries, chaplains, directors of Christian Education, directors of music, business managers, and church-employed lay people.

Staff

P&B is served by approximately 20 dedicated professionals, both clergy and lay. Together, the P&B staff has over 200 years of experience and they work to serve, educate, and inform the participants in our benefit plans.

Purpose

Pensions and Benefits USA is a partner to more than 14,000 active and retired ministers and church-employed laypersons who serve Nazarenes across the United States. Providing a broad range of services, such as life and disability insurance, retirement benefit plans, and benevolence, our goal is to serve those who serve at every stage of their career—from first pastorate through retirement.

Values/Mission/Vision

Pensions and Benefits USA exists to support the church by:

  • Providing the best possible benefit plans and related services,
  • Educating and informing our pastors, churches, and districts to encourage use of these plans and services, and
  • Collecting sufficient income to maintain the long-term viability of these plans and services.

We do this that we might free those serving in local and district ministries from the administrative and financial encumbrances associated with these arrangements.

Administration Area

The Administration Area oversees the day-to-day operations of the Pensions and Benefits office, and its team of associates who serve you. An essential part of our work is keeping accurate records for our benefit plan participants who include over 14,000 Nazarene ministers and church-employed laypeople in the U.S. We also help answer tax questions as they relate to U.S. Nazarene churches and their employees.

Some of our specific responsibilities

  • Provide tax resources for local Nazarene churches, their ministers, and lay employees
  • Keep Pensions and Benefits office personnel records
  • Coordinate Pensions and Benefits office records with ministerial records compiled by the General Secretary's office
  • Track information from the General Treasurer's office concerning payments to the Pensions and Benefits Fund
